The workflows for using OMERO.insight and OMERO.web to view and work with image data are essentially the same in both clients.
Data can be viewed in two ways using:
- the Preview pane on the right hand side panel
- or the Full Viewer
The functionality of the controls in both viewers is the same.
Select an image in the data tree or the central panel.
To view the image in the Preview pane click on the Preview tab in the right hand panel.
To view the image in the Full Viewer double-click on the image in the data tree or the thumbnail in the centre pane.
- or select the image and click on the Full Viewer button in the General or Preview panes in the right hand panel (also in the main toolbar in OMERO.insight).
Step through any Z stack using the slider on the left side or clicking on the up or down arrows at either end.
If the image data includes a time sequence, step or play through the time sequence (T) using the controls at the bottom of the viewer window.
Click the Play arrows at the the ends of the sliders to play through the Z stack or time points.

The functionality and way the controls behave is essentially the same in the Full Viewer and Preview pane in both clients, and between OMERO.insight and OMERO.web.
OMERO allows the importing, storing and viewing of screening data. Many common formats are supported as standard, although some screens benefit from custom handling of their metadata before or after import.
In OMERO.web, screens are represented in the data tree by dark grey folders.
Expand the Screen folder, expand the Plate container and select a Run.
Click on a Well in the Plate shown in the centre pane to view the data in the Well. Well annotations, but not Image annotations, are displayed in right-hand pane. Preview for Wells is not currently available.
Select an Image (a Field contained in the selected Well) in the lower centre pane.
Annotations for the Image are displayed in right-hand pane. The spatial position of the selected Field is highlighted in the lower left-hand pane.
Select Preview tab in right-hand pane to see the preview of the selected Image.
In the Preview panel you can Save new rendering settings to the current Image or 'Save to All' Images in the Plate. In the latter case thumbnails will be updated for currently visible Images in the plate but a browser refresh may be needed to refresh thumbnails from other Fields.
In OMERO.insight, first click on the Screen accordion tab in the left hand panel.
Continue now with the same workflow as for OMERO.web above, clicking on a Screen, a Plate and a Run to expand them. The rest of the workflow is identical with OMERO.web, see steps above.
Both in OMERO.insight and OMERO.web, Images in any Well can be opened in the Full viewer for ROI viewing. In OMERO.insight also addition or analysis of ROIs is available in Full viewer.
